TWELVE BILLION DOLLARS
$12B – this is the latest figure for Microsoft’s annual spend on R&D
In 2010 Microsoft imagined a manufacturing future where workers collaborated seamlessly across time-zones, used predictive technologies, automated processes, and connected sense and respond systems across organizations. It’s 2016 and this vision is a reality. Microsoft’s continuous R&D spend to advance their technologies is fueling their mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.
What does this mean for the manufacturing industry? It means that if you are looking to bet big on your future by investing in technologies to achieve a business transformation, Microsoft is a safe bet.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said during his keynote address at Hannover Messe 2016 that a digital transformation is remaking companies and their factories, bringing the intersection of manufacturing and technology even closer. He said that enabling that transformation are systems of intelligence that help companies gain insight and take action from big data, optimize their operations and change the very nature of the business models around their industrial products.
On June 30th we are taking this message to Chicago to educate manufacturing executives on what it means to be a Connected Enterprise and how it is transforming the way manufacturers do business.
native and Microsoft presenter Mark Beckmann along with Mike Green and Doug Bulla from MCA Connect will facilitate an executive level discussion on how successful manufacturers are using the Internet of Things (IoT) to build smart, intelligent factories that increase their operational effectiveness, improve quality and reduce downtime with predictive asset monitoring.
